Books I have read so far: STAY HUNGRY STAY FOOLISH

STAY HUNGRY STAY FOOLISH is a collection of some of the inspiring stories of 25 IIM Ahmedabad graduates who chose to tread a path of their own making. Author Rashmi Bansal is a writer, entrepreneur and a youth expert. She is the author of 6 best selling books on entrepreneurship which have sold more than a million copies and have been translated into 10 different languages.

The book was commissioned by the centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), IIM Ahmedabad. The book has stories of three types of people:

  1. The Believers ( the ones who already know they want to pursue their dream of becoming an entrepreneur).
  2. The Opportunists (the ones who did not know their path but opportunity knocked and they seized it).
  3. The Alternative Vision ( the ones who are pursing entrepreneurship for a social cause or as a way of creative expression)

Each story may be different but at another level they are all the same. The entrepreneur took a leap of faith. They struggled and strived for years. Before finally achieving a size and scale which made the effort what we call a success.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

1.Be early. You can make your mistakes while it is cheap to make them, when there is no competition.

2. Do not exaggerate in your business plan. Undercommit and overdeliver.

3. Get great people- sell them the vision, the idea and share the wealth, be generous with offering stock.

4.The risk- reward equation is completely in favour of the entrepreneur. There is no way that you will be economically rewarded less for being an entrepreneur than by taking up a job.

5.Be true to your inner voice. Don’t just think about it, just jump into it and do it.

The book basically seeks to inspire young B-School graduates to look beyond placements and salaries. To believe in their dreams.

All in all a great book for young and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Do read and share your reviews.

Cheers!

Namaste, people. I am Tanushka Kumar, from India. I basically am a finance student pursuing my masters from Pune. I already own a blog named abmesabdaldo.wordpress.com which details my prose and romantic genre of writing. To be honest, that was a very casual and basic style of writing, I created this one to be more formal and serious writing my own thoughts, ideas and also help others out. Also, I will try to include topics of today's concern more on this one so that it can be of some good use to people out there reading my blogs. Thanks in advance, cheers to reading and writing. Tanushka
